Before I had my children, Nick, 8, and Emily, 6, I worked as an ad writer and magazine editor. Now, returning to the workforce after 8 years, I'm back in school earning my master's and my license to teach English. I am also dabbling in instructional technology.
I'm looking for a network of almost-teachers, new teachers, mentor teachers to share insights and ideas.
I was in a very similar situation when I started my M.Ed. I graduated in 2000 with a B.A. in English, and had been in the workforce for a while before going back to school. It can be very scary at first. I'm doing my student teaching now, and will finish my degree in December. I am so happy that I did this now that I'm near the end. What I've noticed coming back to school now after having some experience is that I am a much better student than I was, and I feel like I have a lot more to offer my students.
